All news reports said the excommunication of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre was lifted by Pope Benedict XVI.
Somewhere on this board there is a letter that Sean Johnson got as an answer to his inquiry from the Vatican, and it clearly says that the excommunication of Abp. Lefebvre was not lifted.
Actually, it seems impossible to me for it to happen, since you cannot "unexcommunicate" a dead person.
If the Vatican people were really honest, they would declare that the excommunications were null. This can logically be done regarding the deceased.
