    • From what I have seen and heard of him in the past, Father Ballini seemed like a good and devout priest.  

    I have hopes for Ireland having him as a bishop and Father Chazal seems to support him and think we'll of him.  (I noticed he shared a post today about his being Resistance Bishop #5).

    And as for the "consecrating in secret"...  It may have caused less drama to have made it more public, but I can understand why it may have been kept more quiet.  There is SO MUCH drama in the traditional movement these days.  And...  Apparently Father Ballini made several enemies during COVID who would probably have tried to stop the Consecration from happening if they could have and knew beforehand.

    Yeah, this is a good point. I found myself wondering the same thing. If there's a priest in Ireland who was consecrated two years ago, there are probably other priests who are secret bishops as well. :confused:

    It means Ballini will ordain a priest in Ireland in somewhere in the New Year (as that EC was dated December 31, 2022).

    Let me clarify a couple things for you.

    1. Bp. Williamson consecrated Fr. Ballini to the episcopate. Two years ago.

    2. As for these sentences: "Early in the New Year there is due to be ordained, on the Emerald Isle another priest for Catholic Tradition [who recently studied for the priesthood], by a bishop [Bp. Ballini] who is well-known in that country as a priest but not as a bishop."

    YES, obviously this is the big news, that Bp. Ballini was consecrated. Yes, it was done 2 years ago.

    My understanding is that there is some serious and effective persecution of the Resistance (and +Williamson in particular) outside CathInfo, especially in Europe. I was a bit shocked to find that out, since I don't see any of that around here.

    I think it's quite reasonable. 4 bishops for Tradition, for the whole world, is not excessive. Bp. Faure, Bp. Thomas Aquinas, Bp. Zendejas, and now Bp. Ballini. Bp. Williamson is finding it harder and harder to travel, and he's close to forced retirement on account of age. He was born in 1940 remember.

    And "Father Time" is not the only one working to "ground" Bp. Williamson. Enemies of all stripes: agents of globalism, modernism,  Pfeifferism, and/or (((you know who))), have conspired to keep the good Bishop out of many countries. So there's that as well.

    • For a little local knowledge from Ireland here. I think if you remember Bp. Ballini was consecrated because of lockdowns. Ireland had the most severe lockdowns and was difficult for anti-vaxxers to enter the country. With Bp. Ballini’s project seminarians were due to be ordained and with possibly even more severe lockdowns and Ireland’s geographical isolation the seminarians needed a bishop close by in case we were shut off from everyone.
    The other thing as to keeping it secret was because of media persecution. I will leave it at that. I may incur the wrath of His Lordship.

    I was just thinking that "two years ago" we were still in the midst of COVID.  This may be a big reason why it was done secretly.

    Also, there have been calls for more bishops and priests right here on CI, so I would think that most here would consider this a good thing.  Having said that, I can certainly understand the concern regarding the secrecy given the questions among Trads about other historical (or recent) traditional consecrations.

    Yes, it is a bit unexpected, but +Williamson removes all doubt, at least for me.
