    • Now that Bp. Tissier de Mallerais has passed, it is a good moment to remember the good that he did, his virtues and piety.

    I did not meet him, but he seemed to me to be a very calm, pious and intelligent cleric.

    • He was the first SSPX Bishop I met, the parish had a dinner and conference, with the Bishop telling us about the upcoming biography of the Archbishop. A couple of year latter I got conditionally confirmed by him.

    • I was traveling in South America one time on a Christmas Eve, and arrived in a small city just in time for midnight Mass and was surprised to find the good bishop there as the celebrant. He arrived at the pulpit to give his sermon in Spanish just as the clock struck 12, whereupon the locals all over town set off loud fireworks. So loud that one could hardly hear the sermon! Which was too bad, as I had been working on my Spanish and could normally get most of what was said when the speaker was a non-native one. What little I could hear between the nearly constant explosions was very clear and distinct Español. He began with a little bit of a laugh at comical situation, but pressed on as the explosions continued for the duration of his sermon.

    • Bp. Tissier confirmed 4 of my children October 3, 2023 at our small chapel in Fort Wayne, IN.  He had dinner with us afterwards and gave a good talk afterwards and completed the evening signing books/missals. Our priest pulled a lot of strings to get him to make the stop in between 2 other confirmation stops on his schedule. It was very humbling being in his presence, you could sense he was a very holy man. He told us he was writing a book on St Therese, I wonder what happened to it or if he finished it. May he RIP.

    • It's rather disheartening to hear that when Fr. Chazal went to Bp. Tissier to express his concerns over the changes to the SSPX in about 2012, Bp. Tissier told Fr. Chazal to "just be quiet."

    Fr. Chazal says that at least Bp. Tissier always kept to what +ABL taught, even though he didn't stand up and fight for it when the changes happened. He was still better than the other two remaining bishops.

    • Bp. Tissier likely took obedience to his superiors very seriously. Perhaps to a fault? But then when is it considered a fault, when the burden of responsibility lies on the authority?
