  • Yes, I've seen this.  Strangely, officials have not yet come out and identified who that was.

Not sure if it's some occultic/Druidic/Satanic figure.  Earlier attempts to claim it was someone from among the Orthodox cantors (who sang during the ceremony) were debunked when it was shown that none of them wore such garb.

  • There's this outlandish attempt to explain it ... as the ghost of a priest murdered at Westminster Abbey in 1303 (although elsewhere it says in the reign of Henry VIII)

Westminster Abbey claims this was a "verger" but there are no pictures of any vergers wearing hoods.

This is normal verger attire ...

  • Figure is definitely casting a shadow so it has to be corporeal, unless ghosts are casting shadows these days.

Maybe it is Blue Oyster Cult fan of the royals? :smirk:

  • Probably some Druidic/Satanic individual.

Although the story of this Father Benedictus is somewhat interesting.  There's a credible report of two American tourists in 1932 who were trying to make the rounds at Westminster Abbey before closing and then started to panic as they feared that had been locked inside.  At that point, a hooded figure who identified himself as "Benedictus" showed them an alternative way out.  They reported that he spoke a peculiar (very elegant) dialect of English.  When they went back the following day to thank him, they were informed that there was no "Benedictus" at Westminster Abbey.  There were in fact Benedictine monks there during the time of Henry VIII, but none in recent years.

  • If you ignore the part about not realizing he's dead   ...
    Quote
Everyone would love to meet Westminster Abbey’s third and final ghost. Father Benedictus was probably a murder visctim of a robbery gone wrong at the Abbey somewhere in the 16th century. Perhaps he haunts the Abbey because he doesn’t realize he’s dead because of his sudden and violent death. He appears around 5 or 6 pm, right before closing time and he seems solid. In 1900, the encounter with his spirit was docuмented for the first time. A group of tourists were given a tour by a man dressed in monks’ clothes. He talked to the crowd for over 20 minutes, explaining to them about the Abbey. People later said he was a very well-mannered and charming man. After the “tour” Father Benedictus slowly backed away towards a wall and he completely vanished into it, leaving some very puzzled people behind.

Father Benedictus also appeared to two American tourists in 1932. They had been wandering around Westminster Abbey and got lost somehow. It was nearly closing time, so the two started to panic. Father Benedictus appeared and he showed them the way out. When they returned to the Abbey the next day to thank Father Benedictus, they were told that no one by that name worked there.

  • It must be ʝʊdɛօ-masonic symbolism, representing... who knows?  The Druid King, Charles' impending chastisement of the goys?

Similar to the ʝʊdɛօ-masonic actor representing Jacques DeMolay getting back at the Notre Dame Cathedral for torching him.
