  • I have seen a few people online promote this guy named Ron Wyatt from the Wyatt Archaeological Center. I know the guy died back in 1999. However, some people are trying to make trends about how he found Noah's Ark at the Durupinar site. Ron is a seventh day adventist and seems like either a fraud or an amateur at best. What is the Catholic position on this guy? I mean even a few seventh day adventists have debunked him.

Here is an image from a Seventh Day Adventist facebook page promoting him:

    This looks fishy to me.

  • I agree with you. I think a lot of his claims are very questionable.

  • I remember Fr Kevin Robinson was very interested in this subject back in the 90s and videos put out by one of Wyatt's promoters, Johathan Gray. I don't know what his ultimate conclusion was.

Ken Ham, the founder of Answers in Genesis, a Protestant Creation scientist, whose academic prowess I have a lot of regard for, seems to be convinced that the claims of Wyatt are bogus: https://answersingenesis.org/noahs-ark/noahs-ark-found/ark-discovered-again/

  • I’ve never heard of the man.  His name sounds like he should have been a country and western singer!

Ron Wyatt's docuмentary on where the Red Sea Crossing took place is very convincing, but he argues that the crucifixion took place in a different part of Jerusalem than what has been believed by the Church for 2 millenia and proved by the miraculous discovery of the True Cross by Helena of Constantinople.

Fr Robinson is Australian, originally Maronite, ordained for the SSPX in Winona in 1991 and still with the SSPX somewhere in the USA. Very good priest.

Agreed.  His Red Sea Crossing material / argument is solid and very compelling.

It is fascinating!  There's a recent video that shows where they melted the gold and where they formed the wings of the angels for the Ark of the Covenant.  It is amazing what is being discovered.

I encourage everyone to keep this in mind while looking at this subject of Ron Wyatt.

  • Archeological verification of the historical events recounted by Sacred Scripture does not require Catholic faith.

While I agree that some of Wyatt's claims seem to be unfounded, others appear to have been very solid, and I believe that he did a great service overall to help the faith, especially belief in the historicity of Sacred Scripture (that is being called into question even by "Trad" priests like Fr. Paul Robinson, with the blessings of SSPX) ... even if Wyatt doesn't have the faith himself.

So many millions have lost the faith due to the attacks against the inerrancy and credibility of Sacred Scripture ... and people like Fr. P Robinson are part of the problem.
