Past Christians were stricter than puritans.  Look at the Vatican. They had a soft porn musician entertain young people on one Easter.   World youth day created by “Saint John Paul”.   Did he ever comment when in 1993 a woman posed as Jesus.  The Vatican has been promoting transgender with their immodest  circus and worldly sinful world youth day.  They must brainwash children when children aren’t being raped by priests.

Dances, both the events and such manners of dance as square dancing, were also spoken against by many Catholic bishops and councils. 
Archbishop Martin Spalding of Baltimore decreed in 1868:

As the Fathers of the Second Plenary Council of Baltimore, in their pastoral letter to the people, wholly condemned those dances which are commonly called Waltzes and round dances, we decree that they are not to be taught nor to be tolerated in the colleges, academies and schools of the diocese, even for the sake of recreation among persons of the same sex.

Cardinal Archbishop Michael Corrigan of New York wrote in 1898:

All kinds of round dancing are contrary to piety. There can be no doubt of that. All young men and women who wish to be true, pure Christians, should abstain from it and avoid its impure influences.
