  • I'm sure this topic has been addressed multiple times, but I did a search and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

Are CMRI and OLMC priests validly ordained?  Yes or No?

    Thank you.

  • Not sure what OLMC is?

But, the CMRI are valid and solid.  Of course, if you ask the SSPV they will tell you that they are not valid, but most of Trad Land (sede and not sede) agree that they are.

  • Thank you.

And I looked further into it, and I think I did manage to find something that answered my questions.  Thank you.  Sorry to start a new post about something that's been debated and re-debated...

  • It all depends on what Traditional Catholics you ask. With the CMRI, it's a matter of whether or not the Traditional Catholics you are asking believe that the Thuc bishops are valid. With the OLMC, it's a matter of whether or not the Traditional Catholic you are asking believes that Fr. Pfeiffer is a legitimate bishop.

Yes it is. Fr./Bp. Pfeiffer was one of the original priests in the Resistance and the OLMC is a Resistance seminary.

  • Yes.  All CMRI priests are validly ordained from the line of Archbishop Thuc.

  • How many priests has "Bishop" Pheiffer ordained?  Does anyone know?

  • Good question, because I saw "OLMC" on several chapels listed in the Traditio directory I used.  Not thinking of the OLMC--Fr Pfeffeir connection.

    Not even an option!!!!!

  • The only valid priests in OLMC are probably Fr. Joe Pfeiffer and Fr. Pancras. I have no information regarding Fr. Poisson. The others "ordained" by Fr. Pfeiffer are only laymen acting as priests.

You are asserting absolute certainty that the ordinations performed by Pfeiffer are invalid and, by extension, that his own episcopal consecration was null. I tend towards the argument that his consecration and subsequent ordinations conferred by Pfieffer are doubtfully valid, not invalid.

Yes. jvk.  I see your profile states you are in rural Indiana, but I believe you can find a chapel in one of the bordering states.  Hopefully that at least one of those chapels is doable for you and your family (even if not weekly).

Agreed.  Of course, in the practical order it amounts to the same thing … except in danger of death, where one may seek out a doubtful Sacrament if he has no other option.  While some priests who saw the video of the original botched consecration stated that it was outright invalid, there does remain the claim by Fr. Pfeiffer that the form was repeated conditionally afterward.  I’m skeptical that it was, and that it was right the second time, but we can’t rule it out with moral certainty.
