     I don't care what movies he makes and who he claims to be, he's in the club.

    • Whether he's OFFICIALLY "in the club" is not certain, but there's no doubt but that he had to make certain compromises or accommodations to said club ... and that explains IMO the darting eyes where he's got a troubled conscience, arguing with himself in his own head between his Catholic beliefs and his moral compromises.  I believe that The Passion was his way of trying to seek a type of redemption, but then he slid right back into his life of sin, divorcing his wife and having a number of public adulterous affairs.

    • It's comforting to believe that we have one of "our guys" near the top in an industry that is so openly hostile to our beliefs but whatever Mel's positive contributions have been in this culture war they are drown out by a literal
    avalanche of prolefeed.
    It's gotten to the point that you are subjected to toxic rap or pop "music" even when doing something as mundane as pumping gas or grocery shopping. It's one thing to choose to listen to that crap but it's literally inflicted upon our ears
    wherever we are obliged to engage in any form or commerce. 
    Up until the 19th century it was almost exclusively the domain of the Church and the aristocracy to be the arbiters of taste, which is why there are so many examples of great architecture, art, music, and sculpture throughout Europe.
    Capitalism has democratized culture so that appealing to the lowest common denominator insures the greatest profit.
    And as EMJ and Yuri Bezmenov have pointed out it is also a mechanism of control through demoralization.
