Should we as trads shun American and Western Culture of today? Should we make our homes a fortress that is sheltered from american and western European culture?

Is this feasible from a parenting standpoint?

How so? Does that mean sheltered kids? Some kids I'm afraid rebel from being sheltered when they become adolescents

Sheltered from bad friends, bad music, bad books, bad movies/television, engaging in bad fashion, bad education system, etc.

If you create a loving and happy home, the children will naturally want to be at home. If Thier is tension or disagreement between spouses, then the home atmosphere becomes poisoned and the children notice it quickly. That is why mixed marriages are often so deadly to children both spiritually and naturally as you have the parents always upset and undermining each other which creates a toxic home environment.

My errant teen (now grown) once told me "How am I supposed to believe that this way (the way they were being raised) is right when practically everybody else in the whole world is saying something different?" That was a really rocky time.

I shelter myself from western culture for the most part. Even a thousand years ago the Catholic saints fled from the world and went into seclusion so that they could be saved. Now the world is far worse so we should have even more reason to flee from it. I would be surprised if many people who lived in the modern world and did not shelter themselves from it were saved.

I should add that we cannot shelter ourselves from the world completely if we are not priests or religious. I mean we must have jobs and deal with people when we go out. But we shoulld not watch much television, we should not listen to modern music or dress immodestly like most people, we should not send our children to public schools, etc.

As for television I remember reading about one of the Catholic mystics who prophecized about television, she said in our times everyone will have a box in their houses and look at it through which the devil speaks to them.
